Although Egypt’s crude oil production has declined in recent years, natural gas production has increased significantly allowing Egypt to remain a net energy exporter. The Suez Canal and SUMED Pipeline are strategic routes oil and LNG shipments, making Egypt an important transit corridor for world energy markets.
